Taking a road trip this summer? One of the biggest expenses is always the gas bill. Thankfully, gas prices this summer are lower than the wallet-burning levels we saw last year. But it’s always smart to shave the price of gas with a hotel deal that includes free gas cards.

One of our favorite summer travel hacks is to look for hotels offering free gas card promotions. With values up to $75, these cards can often cover a tank of gas. And many come with special hotel room discounts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my car policy cover me for renting cars in foreign countries

Insurance companies now cover rentals in other countries as part of their overall coverage. If you rent a car through Hertz Europe, for example, you might be covered for any damage or losses that occur while the vehicle is being rented. This is also true if you rent a car in Mexico. Some policies offer additional protections, such as waivers for liability and collision damages. These policies are available to you through your agent.

What is the most accessible place to rent a car from?

Hotels, rental agencies and airports are the most popular places where you can rent a car.

It is easy to find airports close to you using online travel websites like Priceline or Expedia.

You may also want to consider local rental companies if they have locations close to where you live. These are often more affordable and simpler than booking directly with an airline.

Consider public transportation if you are renting a car less than two weeks. A city-wide bus pass allows unlimited use within a designated area.

If you are traveling with children, you may be able to rent a convertible. People prefer convertibles because they offer more protection for their children.

Can I rent and drive in Europe with a car?

Yes, you can. You will need to make a reservation for an organized tour, and then pay for each day separately. There are plenty of companies offering these types of tours.

If you're looking for greater flexibility, consider renting a car through one the main travel agencies. These agencies typically offer various services such as car rentals and city transfers.

They often collaborate with local suppliers who specialize on providing quality vehicles at fair prices.

Which countries are willing to accept US drivers licenses?

The United States does not recognize any other country's driver's licenses as valid on its roads. They are accepted by Canada, Mexico, the District of Columbia, and other countries.

Canada recognizes American driver licenses issued by all 50 United States and District of Columbia.

Mexico also recognizes American driver's licenses, but at this time, they are only recognized in the state of Chihuahua.

The District of Columbia accepts American drivers' licenses from all 50 States, with the exception of Alabama, Mississippi and Texas.

How To

How to get the best deal on rental car

  1. Use comparison websites like Kayak and Expedia. This way, you will use their tools and data from previous users who have booked through them, which helps us avoid hidden fees. (Kayak)
  2. Book online to see if additional fees will be charged before payment. (Expedia)
  3. Book early! Book early! (Kayak). Remember that airfares can be cheaper last-minute.
  4. Make sure you are able to fit your travel plans and budget when choosing a car. (eBay)
  5. Verify the insurance coverage. Renting cars less than 25 years old can get insurance for free. (Insurance Panda)
  6. When making reservations, be aware of which type of contract you are choosing. A long-term contract is preferred by most people because they know exactly what it will cost. (MileageIQ)
  7. Ask for a high score credit rating if possible. Car Insurance Guide: A lower credit score may result in higher auto insurance premiums.
  8. If you don't really require it, avoid paying extras like GPS or roadside assistance. These extra costs may not apply to all rentals agencies. (Kayak) 9. You can add an extended warranty to your rental. Make sure this is included in the total cost. Ask your agent if an extended warranty is available for other locations. This could help you save money.
